England interim manager Lee Carsley has revealed he will not sing the national anthem before international matches as he wants to focus solely on the game.

Despite being born in Birmingham, has won 40 caps for the Republic of Ireland. However, the 50-year-old said that singing the national anthem had been a problem for him since he played for the Republic of Ireland, because there was a gap in time between warming up, walking onto the pitch, and then having to sing the national anthem. So he didn’t sing it because he wanted to focus on the game and think about what he had to do at the start of the game, and doing that helped him concentrate.
